Hot springs, powder skiing and succulent seafood in Japan's northeast

One of Tohoku's famous rotenburo onsens (outdoor hot spring bath) is located in Iwate Prefecture. The Osawa Onsen has an 800-year-old history and features a spectacular bath pool located above a winding river.

Osawa Onsen's most famous outdoor pool is open to both genders, but if you're not comfortable with that, there are five other pools to choose from, some of which are single-gender only.
