Zagat launches French-language guide for Parisians
Though well-known in North America as the burgundy bible and, perhaps, as the original crowd-sourced diner's guide, Zagat is relatively unknown in France, where the food authority alternates between Michelin and Gault Millau.
The Parisian version will follow the city's restaurant scene, including new openings and round-ups of the best in class, and cater to locals and French speakers.
So far, the blog is written largely by a local Parisian and Zagat contributor, Ivy Chang, who works at international ad agency Ogilvy Paris.
Stories include the newest bistros to open in the City of Light, the best ‘hipster' addresses, the most buzz-worthy restaurants, and the best vegetarian eateries. Though written in French, stories offer the names, addresses and price points for the restaurants for easy reading.
Popular English-language restaurant guides for Paris, meanwhile, include blogs like Paris by Mouth and those by David Lebovitz and award-winning cookbook author Dorie Greenspan.
Zagat also has dedicated sites in international cities like Beijing, London, Montreal, Paris, Tokyo and Toronto.
