Free wifi in the Paris metro this summer

Spanish company Gowex will start testing a free wifi service in the underground transport system of the French capital June 26, Relaxnews has learned. The service will be available in a selection of Paris subway stations.

When contacted by Relaxnews, Parisian transport authority RATP indicated that in its quest to offer its customers the best connectivity solutions, several test projects -- including some for wifi services -- could be launched.

A branch of the RATP, Naxos, in charge of enhancing telecommunications in the capital's network, earlier this year launched a call for bids related to the expansion of 3G and ultimately 4G networks in the capital's metro and suburban train services.

Relaxnews was not able to reach Gowex for comment at the time of publication.
