Hotel rates drop in Europe

Between October and November, Italy recorded the steepest drop in hotel rates. The average cost of a night's stay plummeted by 31 percent (down to €114) in Rome and 41 percent (down to €140) in Venice. 

Stays in Paris and Barcelona have also become significantly more affordable over the same period, with Paris rates down 23 percent (to €165), and Barcelona prices down 24 percent (to €113).
