Move over Laduree, "The Picasso of Pastries", aka. Pierre Hermé Paris is coming to Hong Kong with their collection of exquisite macarons and chocolates. The IFC boutique will open in May 2013, to the delight of many macaron lovers in town.
Designed by Masamichi Katayama, founder of Tokyo design firm Wonderwall, the interiors of the Pierre Hermé Paris Hong Kong store will be of "refined elegance and tasteful sophistication", we're told.
But truth be told, we're more excited about the diverse range of macarons in store including the Arabesque (apricot and crunchy pistachio), Creme Brulee (vanilla and caramel pieces), Imagine (matcha green tea and black sesame crisp), Infiniment Chocolat Porcelana (pure origin Venezula Porcelana dark chocolate), Celeste (passion fruit, rhubarb and strawberries) and Mogador (milk chocolate and passion fruit).
As for bon bons, the selection includes the Makassar (salted butter caramel mousse ganache covered in dark chocolate), Ouvre-toi (sesame praline and sesame nougat covered in milk chocolate) and Lou (ginger and milk chocolate ganache with candied ginger).
“I approach my work based on the combinations of flavours, in the same way a perfumer would,” said the legendary pâtissier Hermé. “I pick up associations of fragrances to turn into flavours, but it is never a literal translation, it’s an interpretation. The perfumer uses his nose, the pâtissier his nose and mouth.”
Nicely put, Mr. Hermé. Prepare for macaron madness and more lines than ever at the Pierre Hermé Paris Hong Kong ifc boutique, coming to you this May 2013.
